Christmastime at the Dana-Thomas House

In the tradition of Susan Lawrence Dana, the Dana-Thomas House will be decorated for the holiday season through December 30th. In addition to standard hours, the site will be open for evening tours on the Wednesdays before Christmas beginning November 28. Holiday walk tours last approximately 30 minutes and begin every 15 minutes.

The Annual Luminaria display will be Sunday, December 16, 5-8 PM. 100’s of luminaria line the walks and ledges around the house. Events are free, but donations encouraged.

The Dana-Thomas House will be closed on the following dates:

December 24 and 25, Christmas Holiday, site re-opens Wednesday, December 26

December 31 and January 1, New Year Holiday, site re-opens January 2




Tour The House & Grounds

The Dana-Thomas House (DTH) was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1902 for Susan Lawrence Dana, a forward-thinking socialite living in Springfield, Illinois. The home, the 72nd building designed by Wright, contains the largest collection of site-specific, original Wright art glass and furniture. Wright’s first “blank check” commission, the home has 35 rooms in the 12,000 square feet of living space which includes 3 main levels and 16 varying levels in all.
