Springfield’s Best Address, South Fourth Street

Springfield’s Best Address, South Fourth Street

Prominent Springfield families – Stuart, Broadwell, Ridgely and many others – lived along South Fourth Street, a section of Aristocracy Hill. The Dana-Thomas House Foundation and the Sangamon County Historical Society will host a joint program that provides a close-up look at this stellar historic neighborhood, the houses (some still standing), and the people – men and women – who influenced Springfield’s development. What house is the oldest? Who moved from house to house? How were families connected? All will be answered by presenters Allicent Smith, site docent and former Foundation board member, and Cinda Klickna, current Secretary of the Foundation, board member of the Historical Society and freelance writer.
