Description
Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers Throw
In 1927, Frank Lloyd Wright created a series of twelve seasonal cover designs for Liberty magazine, none of which the magazine ever published considering them to be too avant-garde. This stylized design of the desert landscape was created as one of these cover designs. The design was recreated for carpets by Wright in 1955. It was also used in art glass at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, AZ by the Taliesin Architects. The square shapes at the top of the cactus arms represent the blooms of the saguaro, state flower of Arizona.
